The holidays and eating out and being kind to yourself

Sunday-was up early at 6:30, considering I got to bed at 1 a.m.  Took two naps.  Weight was slightly down.  Stayed on track with food and got a 5 mile walk.  Turned off the light about 10, as I was tired.

Monday-got up at 6:30, which seems to be a normal time for me.  Keeping the weight within range.  Stayed on track with food and got my normal Monday night walk of 4 miles.  Turned off the light around 11.

Tuesday-woke up about 6:20, but it was very dark due to the rain and I stayed in bed until about 6:30.  Weight is being within the upper part of my goal range.  Tonight I know I am eating out.  The days I eat at home, I am really trying to stay on a normal food plan.  I am allowing myself some of the foods of the season, but not overdoing it.  That is something I have learned on this journey is to not deny myself certain things, but within moderation. Breakfast, lunch and snacks were on track.  Something in breakfast did not agree with me.  I made wise choices with dinner and it was a fun evening out.  Did my home exercises, but no walk due to the rain.  Turned off the light around 11.

Wednesday-woke up around 6:10 and finally got up around 6:40.  Weight was down a pound.  Today should be on track. I did my home exercises, but no walk/hike.  Mainly doing errands today and the girls and I did go out for lunch and I did have a salad.  Went to service for Christmas Eve, which was really nice and Mari and I got frozen yogurt after the service.  Went to bed around 11.

Thursday-I was up early as I have to be out the door around 7:30 to get to a hike at 8 a.m.  Weight is being in range.  Did some of my home exercises and did do a hike.  Where we went hiking was a new area for me and I had some fear regarding the hike, but I did it and I am proud of myself.  A group of us went out for brunch after the hike.  The rest of the day was home.  Went to bed around 9:45.

Friday-Merry Christmas-I was up around 6:20. Stayed on track with food.  Weight was slightly up, but within the healthy range.  Did a walk today, which felt good.  Other than the walk, mainly stayed home.  Went to bed around 9:45 p.m.  Marissa was struggling with sore muscles and anxiety and I always feel like I am walking on egg shells on holidays especially with Rory.  I am glad when holidays are over.

Saturday-Up early, as we are going on the train to Los Angeles.  Weight was slightly up, but within the healthy range.  Walked about 8 miles, between the Secret Stairs walk and all the rest of the walking we did.  In regards to food, I made wise choices, as lunch and dinner were out. Went to bed around 9:45.

Maintaining

Since I hit my goal weight last week, now my life will be about maintaining this weight.  I really plan to keep it around my goal weight, as I have worked too hard to gain the weight back and my life has become a new life style of eating healthy and exercise and I am enjoying it.

Sunday-I was up early at 5:30, as I have to be out the door by 7:30, so we can be in San Diego by 9.  My weight was up.  Breakfast was on track, as well as snacks and dinner.  A group of us went out to lunch and I don't know that I made the most wise choice.  We did about a 6 mile hike, which was really enjoyable and I am really finding I enjoy exploring different areas and being out in nature.  It was a long, enjoyable day and I turned off the light around 9:45.

Monday-a start to a new week and back to healthy eating.  Rory was awake about 4 and was having difficulty breathing because of the moisture in the air.  The a/c went back on.  I was up at 6:20.  The weight is still up, but I am going to be back to more eating at home.  Food was on track today.  I had breakfast and snacks and dinner according to plan and went to Veggie Grill for lunch and made wise choices.  Did home exercises and did a 4 mile walk.  Turned off the light around 6:20.

Tuesday-I had a lot on my head during the night, as we found out that Mari got a job, which is exciting, but will change our current life.  Got up around 6:30 and my weight was down, which I was happy about.  Stayed on track today, even though I was tempted at lunch to go out, as we were out doing some errands and lunch was late.  Note to self: bring fruit along, if I know lunch is going to be late, then I am not tempted.  Did home exercises and did a 4 mile walk.  Turned off the light around 11:30.

Wednesday-Rory was up around 6:15, which woke me up and evidently he is dealing with a sore throat.  Great!  NOT!  We don't need a cold around our house.  Weight is down again.  I am going out to dinner tonight with my small group and I need to make wise choices.  I did stay on track with most of my food during the day.  With dinner, I had planned to have one thing and ended up having something else.  This is a restaurant, I would not go back to.  I had to take my car in for service, so while the car was being serviced, I took a walk.  Light went out around 11.

Thursday-I was able to sleep until about 6:30.  Weight was slightly up.  My goal, now that I have made my goal weight is to keep my weight between 170-175. Stayed on track with food today.  Overall the last few months, I have been reading about empaths, which I know I am and how they have a tendency to have relationships with narcissists, which is Rory and now I have been listening to a podcast about tendencies and I am an obliger with a rebel tendency, which is a war that goes on in my head.  According to this podcast, obligers usually have relationships with rebels, which is my husband. Interesting how, even though we have a lousy marriage and I would prefer not to be in this marriage, this is the person, with my personality, I was supposed to have married.  Knowing this helps, but I still do not want to be in this marriage, as I am more his caretaker, than his wife.  Did my home exercises and got in a walk of approximately 5+ miles.  Turned off the light about 11:15.

Friday-Slept until about 6:30.  Weight was within my goal range. A friend of mine wanted to go hiking and we had decided to go to Torrey Pines in San Diego.  We had lunch before we went hiking. I was hurting from my waist down from walking at Shady Canyon on Thursday.  Question to those of you who hike/walk on a regular basis-should you have a meal before or after you eat?  When we got to Torrey Pines, we found out we could not walk on the beach, which I was looking forward to doing.  I made a good choice at lunch, but on the way home, we stopped at a coffee place, I like and I did not make a great choice.  Had dinner slightly later than normal.  We probably did a 4 mile walk, but my phone was causing me issues, so I am not sure.  I was very tired by the time I got home and ended up going to bed between 10:30 and 11.

Saturday-Got up early at 6 p.m., as I had to get to hike at 9 in Fullerton and we had to leave at 8 a.m. to get to Fullerton on time.  My weight was up, but the weight is still within maintenance.  We did a 5 mile hike, but it was not at a very fast speed.  Got sandwiches from Jersey Mikes and milk tea from 85 degrees on the way home.  Went to a birthday party on Saturday night and made wise choices, but allowed myself some leeway.  Fun evening and it was late to bed- 1 a.m.

Routine and having fun with friends-made goal this week

Another week is starting and I am happy in that my weight is staying relatively the same.I really would like to hit my goal of 173, but if this is where my body wants to be of between 175-177, I will be happy.  I will continue to walk/hike and eat healthy.

Sunday-woke up around 6:45 a.m. and my weight is the same as Saturday.  Breakfast, snacks and lunch were on track.  I had planned to go out to dinner with friends after a 5 mile hike and I made good choices of fish tacos.  Did some of my home exercises.  Turned off the light at 10:30.

Monday-woke up around 6:30.  I was tired of the bed.  Weight is down. Breakfast, snacks and dinner were according to plan.  Lunch was the way I planned it, which was from Starbucks.  Did some of my home exercises and went for a 3.5 mile walk, which is one of my normal Monday night walks.  Turned off the light around 10:40.

Tuesday-woke up around 6:30.  Weight is down.  Food was on track today.  Did my home exercises and a walk of almost 5 miles, which is one of my normal Tuesday night hikes.  Turned off the light around 10:40.

Wednesday-woke up around 6:20.  Weight is down and I have one more pound to go to reach goal. Food was on track today.  Did some of my home exercises and did a 5+ mile hike.  This was an exploratory hike.  Turned off the light about 10:30.

Thursday-woke up around 6:30 and I have made goal.  I don't feel any different, but I am happy I have accomplished something that I really wanted to do.   There were times, I was going to give up and just accept where I was, but I did it and I am proud of myself.   I have lost 70 pounds and I plan to keep it off.  To lose weight takes work, but to keep it off, also takes work. I stayed on track with food today.  Did some of my home exercises and did my usual Thursday night hike.  Turned off the light around 11:30.

Friday-I was not really ready to get up, but Rory was at 6:25.  The weight is still continuing down and I have definitely made my goal.  Today is a down day.  Stayed on food plan today, which included dinner out.  Home exercise was done today.  Turned off the light around 11.

Saturday-I had some problems sleeping, as we had turned off the air conditioning and my mouth was dry.  I did get up around 6:30.  The weight was up, but I expected that and I am still at goal.  Now my plan is to stay within a couple of pounds of goal. Saturdays are field trip days, which is what Mari and I did.  Mari and I took the train up to Los Angeles to The Broad, which is a modern art museum. We had lunch at a restaurant next to The Broad, which was enjoyable.  I try to make wise choices when we go out.  We got coffee/tea from Starbucks and a snack.  Dinner was at home and the light was turned off at 9:45.  Exercise for today was mainly walking in downtown Los Angeles.

The holidays are upon us

The holidays are upon us and this time of year makes me nervous, as I am leary of all the get togethers and the food.  I know I have made wise choices and I plan to continue to do that and keep the weight off.  There is more to this season than food, so I plan to get out and enjoy!

Sunday-woke up around 6:30.  Did not have the best night sleep, as I ended up working on a project that I should not have started that late at night.  Oh well, I did it.  I will get a nap today.  Weight down slightly.  Doing a hike later today.  Stayed on track with food.  It is peaceful around the house today.  Did some of my home exercises.  Turned off the light around 10:30 p.m

Monday-woke up around 6:30.  It was so nice to wake up to peacefulness!  Weight is down. Stayed on track with food today.  Did some of my home exercises and got a walk tonight.  Turned off the light around 11 p.m.

Tuesday-Actually slept in till 7:30, which was nice.  Weight is down. Stayed on track with food today.  Did some of my home exercises and got a walk tonight. My walking friends are awesome, in that they positively reinforce my weight loss and I love it! Turned off the light around 11:30 p.m.

Wednesday-Back to routine-got up around 6:15 p.m.  Weight stayed the same. Stayed on track with for today. Did some of my home exercises.  Went to bed around 10:30.

Thursday-Got up around 6:15.  Weight is up slightly.  I went with Mari to downtown Los Angeles for an interview she had.  Overall, I stayed on food plan, except for one thing.  Today, was a lot of walking.  I did my hike in Shady Canyon and I tripped over a curb.  I did too much walking today.   Went to bed around 11:30.

Friday-Got up around 6:30.  Weight up slightly.  Today is a rest day.  Overall, I stayed on track, except for a vegetarian pizza.  Did some home exercises, but mainly rested my legs.  Went to bed at 10, but was falling asleep before that.

Saturday-Got up around 6:15.  Weight down slightly.  Breakfast and snacks were on track, but lunch and dinner were not, but I expected that.  Made wise choices.  Did some of my home exercises and got in a 6 mile hike.  My legs feel better today.  Went to bed around 11:30.

Inspiration

Losing weight has really helped me and I really feel like I have been an inspiration to others, due to the comments I have gotten.

Sunday-Woke up about 6:45.  It was nice to sleep in somewhat!  Weight is down from yesterday.  This week will be more eating at home.  Thank goodness! Food was on track today.  Did some of my home exercises and did a hike.  Turned off the light around 11:10, as I was trying to accomplish something.

Monday-Woke up around 6:15 and I was getting tired of the bed.  Weight is about the same.  Overall stayed on track today with the exception of lunch, but the choice was not bad.  Did some of my home exercises and did my walk.  My frustration is building, as I am getting things done, but not home stuff that I want to get done.  Turned off the light around 11.

Tuesday-Woke up around 6:15.  I was getting to the point I was uncomfortable in bed.  Weight has dropped. Stayed on track today with food.  Did get some of my home exercises done and did my walk.  Frustration and tiredness played a part in this morning, but getting a nap and doing my walk helped a lot.  Turned off the light a little before midnight.

Wednesday-Woke up around 6:35.  Weight dropped slightly.  Today is a resting day.  Stayed on track with food today.  Did my home exercises and no walk was planned.  Today was very enjoyable and I got things done, which I like.  Turned off the light a little after 10.

Thursday-Turkey day- woke up around 6:15, as I have to be out the door by 8:30 to go for a hike.  Weight was the same as Tuesday.  I get a little nervous with the holidays, as I am concerned about overeating. Some home exercises and a walk.  Did go out for lunch.  After the walk and lunch, came home and spent the rest of the day at home.  Made wise choices with dinner.  Turned off the light around 10ish.

Friday-Got up around 6:15, thinking we were doing a hike in Pasadena, but it was raining, so the group of us decided to cancel and we ended up doing a walk, which was very enjoyable.  My weight was down slightly.  Did some of my home exercises and a walk.  Food was on track, except for lunch, as we went out and I did make wise choices.  Turned off the light around 10ish.

Saturday-Got up around 5:30, as I had to catch a train at 8:30, which meant being out the door at 7:30.  The weight was up slightly.  I did not do any home exercise, but did do a long walk around San Diego.  Did have lunch out, but the rest of the day was on schedule.  Totally enjoyable day with friends and my daughters.  Went to bed around 11:30, as I got caught up in a project, which I should not have done.

Wise choices

Right now, I am bound and determined to get down to my goal weight or what is a healthy weight for me, so I am having to make wise choices, when we go out.  I am not going to give up eating out.  This next week, I will really have to make wise choices, as I am going out several nights.

Sunday-Got up around 6:15.  My weight is down and I have two pounds to go to get to goal.  This is a goal that I want to accomplish.  Stayed no track with food today, but need to more work on the water and not the coffee/tea drinks.  Had one more tea drink than I should have had.  Did some of my home exercises, but no hike, as they kept predicting rain.  Overall a quiet day.  Turned off the light around 10.

Monday-Got up around 6:30.  I was awake around 5 and my mind was racing, which is typical lately for that time of the morning.  The weight was slightly up. I did keep on track with food today and focused more on the water.  Did my home exercises and did get a walk.  Good day overall.  Turned off the light around 10:50.

Tuesday-Got up around 6:30.  My legs were bothering me quite a bit of the night and I did not have a racing mind at 5 a.m. The weight was down.  Overall, I stayed on track.  We went out for lunch and I had a salad.  Did my home exercises and I did get a walk.  My ham string  really hurt during  the walk.  The morning was good, but I went into a blue funk in the afternoon.  Walking and being with friends in the evening helped a lot.  Turned off the light around 10:50.

Wednesday-Got up around 6:15.  Legs not bothering me and no racing mind.  The weight was up slightly. Dinner was planned to be pizza from Blaze Pizza, but it ended up being half the pizza for lunch and half the pizza for dinner.  The pizza was 790 calories total.  I did do my home exercises and I did get my walk.  No pain in my ham string.  Better mood today and the light went off around 10:50.

Thursday-Got up around 6:15.  Weight was up slightly, which was not a surprise.  Legs not bothering me and no racing mind, just got tired of being in bed around 5 a.m. Breakfast, snacks and dinner were according to plan.  I went out with a friend for lunch and made a wise choice and that is the most important thing.  I did do my home exercises and did do my usual Thursday night walk.  Had fun with my hiking group and then came home and Rory decided to unload on me of everything negative that is going on in the world and who he is as a controller.  Not fun and it made me get to bed late.  Constant frustration is not fun to live with.  Turned off the light at 11:50.

Friday-Got up around 6:15. Weight up again.  I like eating out, but I will be glad to do more eating at home.  By 6:15, I was getting tired of the bed.  I am really working at being positive and not complaining. Did some of my home exercises and did a very short walk.  Ate according to plan.  Had one thing off plan.  There is one thing at Starbucks that I am going to have to really watch my intake of over the holidays.  Dinner was out and I could have made wiser choices, but I am not going to beat myself up over my decisions.  Enjoyable evening out and then came home to more negativity.  Turned off the light again at 11:50.

Saturday-Got up around 6:15.  Weight up again.  This morning was a push morning to get out the door.  Breakfast and snacks were on track and lunch and dinner were out.  No home exercises, but did about 8 miles of walking, including lots of stairs.  Came home and went to bed and had to listen to more of Rory's rantings.  Very exhausting and frustrating.  Turned off the light about 10:50.

Eating out vs. eating at home

For those who are really trying to lose weight, do you find that eating out puts on the weight, more than eating at home?  I feel like whenever, I make wise choices and eat out, my weight will still go up slightly, more than when I eat at home.

Sunday-got up around 6:20, as I am really trying to work at getting 8 hours of sleep.  I do get up a couple of times a night.  My weight was up, but I expected that after yesterday. Did get some of my home exercises accomplished and did get a hike done.  Social wise, it was a good day.  Ate dinner too late last night and went to bed at 10:50.

Monday-got up around 6:15.  My weight was up!   Heard a message at church yesterday on values.  With this weight loss, I need to stick it out to the finish line.  This is a goal that I want to accomplish and lately, I feel like, I have been sloppy.  Back on track.  It is fun to go out, but I need to limit it to one meal out on fun days.  One meal out on fun days will work sometimes and not on others and I need to be kind to myself.  Stayed on track with food today and did my home exercises, as well as getting a walk.  Turned off the light around 10:50.

Tuesday-got up around 6:25.  My weight is starting to go back down again.  We are going out to lunch with a friend, who is here from out of town and I am committing to having a salad for lunch. I stuck to my commitment and I had a salad and iced tea for lunch.  The rest of the day was on track.  Volunteering at The Pet Rescue Center, having lunch with my friend and doing my walk was the best part of the day.  I did some of my home exercises and I did get a walk.  Got a letter regarding our mortgage and had to figure that out.  Turned off the light around 11:20.

Wednesday-got up around 6:15, even though my head was going, regarding the increase in the mortgage payment, which did not make for a great night sleep.   I have figured it out and I am going to let it go.  The weight is down again. Stayed on track with food.  No walk, but I did get home exercises completed.  Turned off the light around 11.

Thursday-got up around 6:15.  The weight is down.  At Marissa's therapy appointment yesterday, we were talking about food for breakfast.  Karen, who is Marissa's therapist, gave us some ideas, which we are going to use.  Eggs with spinach and onions, Eggs with cut up vegetables, Ezekiel bread with almond butter and goat milk yogurt, as well as oatmeal. Mari and I are going to do this as well. Karen, also recommended that I look up low-carb breakfasts, which I have done.  Got all my home exercises done and got a walk done.  It was not my usual Thursday night walk, but it was enjoyable and I got to bed at 10 p.m.

Friday-Got up around 6:15.  The weight stayed the same.  We are starting our new breakfast routine this morning with goat yogurt with berries, Ezekiel bread and almond butter. Stayed on track with food today.  Did some of my home exercises and did get a walk.  Overall, a quiet day.  Went to bed at 10.

Saturday-Got up around 6:15.  The weight stayed the same.  Breakfast today is a frittata with Ezekiel Bread and almond butter. Had my normal snacks, but added on ice cream to my lunch/afternoon snack, which was a vegetable quiche with salad.  Dinner was on track.  Did one of my home exercises and a hike with a lot of stairs.  Good day overall!  Went to bed at 10.

Two months to lose 4 pounds-I can do it!

The month of October was a wash, as I stayed relatively the same.  My goal, recently, has been to hit normal weight, by the end of this year and I know I can do it.

Sunday-My weight was slightly down.  I did get up at 6:30, which was hard, as I was getting tired of the bed.  I enjoyed having the sun out, when I got up.  I do not like going to bed in the dark and getting up in the dark. Stayed on plan with food and I did some of my home exercises and did get a hike done.  Good day overall and I went to bed at 10:15.

Monday-my weight stayed about the same.  Got up about 6:00.  Was very ready to get up, as the sun was up and I was tired of the bed.  Stayed on track with food.  I got my home exercises done, but did not get a walk done, as we had rain.  Good day overall and I went to bed at 10:10.

Tuesday-my weight was slightly down.  I got up about 6:15. Stayed on track with food and got my home exercises done and a walk.  Dealt with some frustration with Rory and his health.  I was actually able to talk to him and have him hear me.  How long that will last, I don't know. It was a good day overall.  I was social and then, Rory wanted to talk, when I got home, so bed time was late. Turned off the light at 11:40.

Wednesday-my weight is continuing to go down.  Got up about 6:30. Stayed on track with food, got my home exercises done and a walk.  Accomplished much of my routine today and I am coming to realize that I need to be more positive than negative.  Yes, I live in a very negative household, which is mainly due to one person, who affects the rest of us.  Yes, I get very frustrated.  I was raised in a not positive atmosphere.  I cannot unload on all of my friends, as they get very tired of the negative.  I need to work on being positive and being the person I am, who, is a caring, doing, learning, planning and exploring person.  I did get a nap today and I turned off the light around 10:30.

Thursday-Got up around 6:15 and my weight is continuing to go down. Stayed on track with food, most of the day, except for lunch.  I did get a sandwich, which was not a bad choice.  I did my home exercises and did get a walk.  Accomplished my routine today and did get a nap.  Turned off the lights at 10:50.

Friday-Got up around 6:15 and my weight is slightly up.  My knees were hurting during the night, so my sleep was not the greatest.  I forgot to stretch after our walk last night. Food was on track today, did most of my home exercises and did get a walk.  Did get a nap.  Turned off the light about 10, as I knew I had to be up at 6 on Saturday.

Saturday-Got up at 6 and and my weight was about the same.  Except for breakfast and morning snack, did not follow food plan, as we were out.   My food and drink choices were not the best, but I enjoyed the day and I did do a 6 mile walk with approximately 1000 stairs. Very tired by the time I got home and turned off the light around 10:20.

Realizing things

Realizations-never knew I could get addicted to hiking and being on dirt trails and out in nature.

Sunday-Rory woke me up about 6:45, by turning on the light.  I was really trying to sleep until 7, as I do not have to be someplace until 1.  It is our usual disagreement, that he wants to be up between 6 and 6:30 and I am trying to get 8 hours of sleep, when I can.   I am active, he is not.  I need the rest.  Weight was the same.  This was one of two issues we had today, but the rest of the day was good.  I really need to learn to keep my mouth shut with Rory.  I am going to accommodate him, by getting to bed at 11 and getting up at 6:30 a.m., which will overall, work for both of us.  All but dinner was on track and I did not make a bad choice with dinner.  Got to bed around midnight.

Monday-Woke up around 6, but did not get up until 6:30.  The weight was up.  This weekend was great and I need to get back to normal eating, which I am going to do today. It is hard to come down off a high, especially when you enjoy something.   I have been on track today and did get a nap for about 45 minutes.  Did a walk tonight and turned off the light at 10:50.

Tuesday-Got up around 6:30.  The weight is starting back down. Stayed on track with food today.  Did my home exercises and did a walk.  Did get a nap. Life is being normal.  Turned off the light at 10:30.

Wednesday-Got up around 6:30.  It felt good to sleep about 8 hours.  Weight is down.  Stayed on track with food today. Got some of my home exercises done today and did get a walk.  No nap today and Rory was not home tonight, which was more peaceful. I was doing my nighttime routine and I really wanted some music on.  I am wondering, if normally, I have so much noise, that I want quiet and really do not want music.  Turned off the light at 10:30.

Thursday-Got up around 6:30.  I could not turn my head off during the night.  There is a possibility that Mari might get a job today, as she has an interview and a reality check hit during the night.  Weight is down.  Food was on track, with the exception of a frappucino, while waiting for Mari at her interview. I have decided to keep track of what I spend for things during the month of November, so I can come up with some type of budget.  I did my home exercises and did do my usual Thursday night walk.  Turned off the light at 11:20.

Friday-Got up around 6:45.  Much better nights' sleep.  My weight is relatively the same. Stayed on track with food today.  I did do my home exercises and I did get a walk done.  Did take a nap!  Mainly an afternoon at home.  Turned off the light at 10:20.

Saturday-Got up around 6:15, as I had to be out the door at 8:45.  My weight is relatively the same.  Breakfast and snacks were on track.  Lunch and dinner were out and that was planned-made good choices.  Did have one piece of candy.  We were out all day, so no walk or exercises.  Turned off the light about 11 p.m., as this is my way of acclimating to the time change.  I was tired and it was hard to stay up that light.

Confidence

I have felt myself slipping back on my hiking and I need to get the confidence back.

Sunday-Got up around 6:45.  The weight is down.  Stayed on track with food,  did home exercises and a walk.  Today was mainly home getting things done, which felt good, plus made some plans to go hiking with a friend.   Turned the light off about 10:50.

Monday-got up around 6:30.  The weight is slightly up. Stayed on track with food, did home exercises and did my Monday night walk.  Today was mainly home getting things done.  Turned off the light about 11:25.  Frustrations with Rory centered around him trying to plan Marissa's life and the job he thinks she should have at a lighthouse.

Tuesday-got up around 6:45.  The weight dropped.  Already having frustrations with Rory, as he is already talking about Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Stayed on track with food, did home exercises and did my Monday night walk.  Spent time with cats/kittens at The Pet Rescue Center and did my Tuesday night walk.  Turned off the light around 11:25.  Mari struggling with her health, her dad and finding a job.  When she is upset, it makes me sad.  I know she will eventually find a job.

Wednesday-got up around 6:15.  The weight was slightly up.  I have been planning to go back to school and get a certificate in event planning.  A friend of mine found an on line event planning course on Groupon for $5.  Something to ponder, should I do it on-line or actually go to school?  Did some research and found that the school I was planning to go to, most of the classes are online.  Food was on track and I did my home exercises and a walk.  Mari and I went to Bible Study last night and when we got home, Rory was angry.  He has been on medication for an ear infection and he was having side effects from the medication, plus withdrawal.  Trying to relax and get a restful night sleep is difficult when this happens.  Turned off the light around 11:45.

Thursday-not a restful night sleep.  Got up around 7.  The weight is down.  I stayed on track with food today.  Did my house exercises and a walk.  The day got better as time went on.  It is not fun to live, when you have to always watch what you say.  Mari went to do some volunteer work and I did some errands.  Did get a nap.  Turned off the light around 11:45.

Friday-much better sleep last night.  Got up around 7. My body is feeling the tenseness of what happened Wednesday night.  The weight is about the same. I stayed on track with food today, until dinner time, when a group of us went out for dinner.  I did make a relatively good choice. The day was good.  It is really nice to be out with friends.  Got to bed around 11:30.  I did my house exercises.

Saturday-got up around 6:30, although Rory woke me up around 6, thinking I had to get up that early.  I know he was trying to be kind. Weight was up, but I expected that.  Breakfast and morning snack was on track, but the rest of the day was not.  I did make good food choices and this was planned.  Did not do my home exercises, but did do a hike and it was a wonderful day.  Got to bed around 11.

Back to reality and a busy week

Rory got home on Friday and it is back to normalcy in regards to him.  The girls have appointments every day this week, with the exception of Friday.  I am dealing with his irresponsibility and non-realism with money.

Sunday-the weight is up.  Stayed on track with food today.  Did some of my home exercise.  Turned off the light around 11.

Monday-Got up around 6:30.  It is hard to get up early, when it is still dark outside.  The weight is slightly down.  Stayed on track with food today and had two walks, plus some of my home exercise.  Turned off the light around 11:25.

Tuesday-Got up around 6:30.  Had a hard time sleeping as my perfectionism is getting in the way of writing something.  Getting that done is going to be my number one priority today.  The weight is slightly down.  Overall, stayed on food plan.  I did my usual Tuesday night walk and then went to be social, which was nice.  Turned off the light about 12:10.

Wednesday-Rory is having an issue with his ear and woke me up early this morning.  I did finally get up around 6:30.  Weight is slowly going down.  Stayed on track with food today.  No walking/hiking, did home exercises.  I was feeling overwhelmed today.  Went to bed around 11.

Thursday-Woke up around 6:15.  My average sleep seems to be about 7 hours with a nap.  Weight is up slightly.  Marissa and I went to a new doctor for her and he is putting her on a food plan and going to adjust her meds.   The new food plan means a new food plan for Mari and I, as well.  The doctor wants her on a protein and vegetable diet, which means no cereal or dairy in the morning.  He is not concerned about the amount of eggs she has.  QUESTION-WHAT DO OTHER PEOPLE EAT FOR BREAKFAST THAT IS NOT CEREAL OR TOAST OR PANCAKES?  WE COULD USE SOME IDEAS FOR A PROTEIN, VEGETABLE AND FRUIT FOOD PLAN.  Did my normal Thursday night walk.  All but lunch was on track.  Went to bed around 11:25 p.m.

Friday-Woke up around 6:30.  Weight is up slightly.  Today, we are off for a weekend getaway.  No walking and a minimal amount of home exercise.  Breakfast and snacks were on track.  Lunch and dinner were out and made wise choices.  Went to bed around 10:50.

Saturday-Woke up around 6:30.  Could not check weight, as I am out of town.  I am trying to just enjoy and not thinking about food choices.  Had a late breakfast, as I took Mari to depart on the boat for her adventure and then came back and had breakfast with Marissa.  Marissa and I are going to Santa Barbara and go exploring and walking.  Checked out of the hotel and then headed for Santa Barbara.  Had lunch and took a walk and did some exploring and slowly worked ourselves back to Ventura.  It was fun seeing places, I had not seen before.  Had dinner with my group and then headed for home.  My definition of home has become wherever I am that day.  I wish this house could be someplace I could look forward to coming back to.  Got to bed around midnight, after unpacking the car and putting things away.

A continuing lifestyle of healthy eating and exercise

Sunday-Woke up at 6:30 and did my reading.  The weight is slightly up.  This should be a week of eating according to plan.  I did my house exercises and had a relaxing day and stayed on food plan.  Turned off the light around 10:20.

Monday-Woke up at 6:30 and did my reading.  I woke up at 4 a.m. and had a hard time getting back to sleep, but I eventually did, as I have been concerned about Mari and her respiratory issues.  The weight is back down.  I enjoy eating out, but it is also nice to stay on food plan.  I did get a walk.   Turned off the light about 10:25 p.m.

Tuesday-Woke up around 6:20 and did my reading.  Weight is about the same.  Stayed on food plan today and got in a 5 mile walk tonight.  Turned off the light about midnight, as I stayed to be social after my walk and when I got home, there was a phone call from Rory, that I felt warranted a call back.

Wednesday-Woke up around 7 and did my reading.  The weight dropped.  Stayed on food plan and did no walking, but did my home exercises.  Turned off the light about 11:20.

Thursday-Woke up around 6:20 and did my reading.  The weight was up.  Stayed on food plan and did my usual Thursday night walk and my home exercises.  Stayed after the walk for frozen yogurt and when I got home, another call from Rory, that I felt warranted a call back.  Turned off the light about 12:25.

Friday-Got up around 7 and did my reading.  The weight was down.  Stayed on food plan and did a walk and my home exercises.  Today is my last day of staycation.  Turned off the light about 11 p.m.

Saturday-Got up around 6:45 and did my reading.  The weight was down.  Stayed on food plan for breakfast, snack and dinner.  Went on a field trip and had lunch out, as well as some of my favorite ice cream.

My goal is within reach

Sunday-Rory was up at 6,which woke me up.  He is leaving for Las Vegas tomorrow and I am so thankful.  I had a busy day yesterday and could easily have used the extra sleep, but oh well!  Today is being a day of no exercise.  Breakfast and snack was on track.  We were supposed to have had lunch after going kayaking, but didn't go kayaking.  Got lunch out anyway and really did not make a bad decision.  The rest of the day was on track and mainly a resting day.  Turned off the light about 10:40 p.m

Monday-Woke up around 6:20.  The weight is slightly down.  No walking/hiking today as my schedule became very full. Food was on track.  It was very nice to not live on a schedule today as Rory is gone for 12 days.  We live on a schedule, but we don't live on a schedule.  Turned off the light around 10:40.  I did do all of my stretching exercises and I increased my mileage on the stationery bike to 1.25 miles.

Tuesday-Woke up around 6:15, but did not get up until 6:30 and actually did some reading.  I do not turn on the TV when Rory is gone, so I have quiet, which I totally enjoy.  Breakfast, both snacks and lunch were on track.  I had a salad for dinner, as we went out.  I knew my Tuesday night walk was not going to happen, so there was no walking exercise and I did do some of my home exercises.  Turned off the light around 11.  Weight was the same.

Wednesday-Woke up around 6:30 and did some reading.  My food was on track today and I had a lot of vegetables on Tuesday, which seemed to clear out my system today.  My walking got cancelled today, but I did do my home exercises.  Weight dropped slightly.  Turned off the light around 11:20 p.m.

Thursday-woke up around 6:45 and did some reading.  I like waking up and being able to spend time with God, rather than waking up to the TV.  Weight was down and food was on track.  I did get a 4.5 mile walk in last night, which was really nice.  Turned off the light around 11:25.

Friday-Had a hard time sleeping last night, as my head would not shut off, because I was thinking about things I had to do today, to prepare myself for tomorrow.  Got up around 6:30 and did my reading.  Weight continued to go down.  Today is an off day, in regards to exercise.  There are days I have after I have had a fun day or a day where I am very active doing things other than normal routine, that I tend to get depressed, when I am just doing routine stuff.  I am working on being more positive, than negative.

Saturday-woke up at 6, as I had to be out the door by 8.  My weight was slightly up, but I am ok with that, as I look at where I have come with my weight.  Did a "Secret Stairs" walk in Los Angeles with my hiking group, which was fun.  Stayed on track with food for breakfast and snack and dinner.  Lunch was out and so was afternoon snack.  Didn't make the wisest of choices, but enjoyed.  I was tired by the time we got home and turned off the light at 10:20.

Frustration

I am dealing with frustration and fear when it comes to going back to doing the intermediate hikes.  The walk I did on Saturday had its challenges and I am getting used to doing different types of exercises and more stretching, which is good for me.  I need to accept what is and not expect so much of myself.  I have decided that my schedule for walking will be Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.  Mondays will be either at Balboa or a walk with Mari.  Wednesdays will be a walk at Balboa while Marissa is at therapy.  Tuesday and Thursdays are going to be a group walk and Saturdays will be a field trip of some kind.  I will not walk when the temperature at the time of the walk is over 85.  It is just too hot, when it is over 85.

Sunday-got up around 6:15 and my weight is down.  Stayed on track with food and no walking.  I was down in the dumps yesterday and this seems to be a trend with Sundays.  I want the down time, but I enjoy the social.  I am frustrated with my hamstring and the heat.  Turned off the light at 10:30, which seems to be coming a routine, that is healthy for me.

Monday-got up around 6:15 and my weight is down.  Stayed on track with food.  Took a walk with Mari at Dana Point, which felt good and I had no real pain afterward, thanks to the stretching I am doing.  Today was a more positive day.  Turned off the light around 10:30.

Tuesday-woke up around 6:15 and my weight is at its lowest.  Three more pounds to goal.  Stayed on track with food today.  We did go out for lunch and I had a shrimp salad.  Did my usual Tuesday night walk, which was good.  Today was a good day, as we did dog walking at The Pet Rescue Center.  I am focusing on moving forward, rather than feeling stuck, which is a good thing.  Turned off the light at 11 p.m.

Wednesday-got up around 6:15 and my weight was slightly up.  Stayed on track with food today.  I did a walk at Balboa this morning and the hamstring is really getting a lot better.  My usual frustrations during the day and I move on.  It is hard when you want to fix something and you can't.  I wasn't really feeling well before I went to my small group tonight, but anyway and drank plenty of water and turned off the light at 11:20.

Thursday-got up around 6, as Rory was stirring and I couldn't go back to sleep.   I knew we had to be out the door between 9:30-9:45 a.m.  My weight is slightly down.  Today is a busy day.  Dropped Mari off at Saddleback Church and then ran some errands.  Did a photo shoot for a friend and had lunch with Mari and my friend.  Lunch was the only time I deviated from food routine.  Did my usual Thursday routine.  I did not do as much stretching as I have been doing, plus I walked faster than I have been.  I did do my normal nighttime routine, which helped.  Turned off the light at 12:20 a.m.  This is becoming typical for Thursday nights.

Friday-got up around 6:20, as Rory wanted to get his day going and again, I knew I had to be up.  Weight is slightly down.  Friday is a down day for me, in regards to exercise.  It is nice to have a quiet day, once in a while.  Turned off the light at 10:20.

Saturday-got up at 6, as I had to be out the door at 8 to get to a hike.  The weight was up.  Did a 5 mile hike and had a busy day, which I enjoy.  It is hard to come home to "life with Rory", after a day like today.  Turned off the light at 11:20

Continuing the process

Sunday-got up at 6:45 and my weight was up slightly.  Food was back on track today.  No walking, but started back to doing exercise, that I did before I injured my knee.  I did go to church and I did get errands done.  I always struggle after I have had a fun day out and then I have to come home and deal with home life.  I feel like I have a dual life.  One is at home and dealing with negativism and disabilities and then I have my outside life of dealing with more positive people  and people who are more normal.  I took a really good nap and got to bed at 10.

Monday-got up at 6:20 and my weight was up slightly.  I am learning that this is typical after one day of not paying attention to food plan.  It takes a couple of days to start dropping again.   Food was on track today.  I did take a 2.33 mile walk on Balboa Island this morning and it was overall nice.  I learned last night that I do not have a knee issue, but a hamstring issue.  Walking/Hiking is one way I can deal with my stress, but I need to work on overall stretching.  Did not get a nap.   Turned off the light around 10:30.

Tuesday-woke up around 6:10 and my weight was back down.  Food was on track today. Found some more exercises to do for hamstring and quads and I was doing some sort of exercise all day, including a 5 mile walk last night.  We did not go out for frozen yogurt after our walk, but instead had yogurt right after dinner.  Did get a nap.  Turned off the light around 10:30.

Wednesday-woke up around 6:20 and my weight is down to the lowest it has been.  I, off and on sleep after about 3 a.m. and sometimes it is hard to get comfortable.  Food was on track , except for dinner, when I went out for a birthday celebration.  I did get a walk in today. I did get a nap.  Got home late, but it was a fun evening with friends.  Again, having the issue of being out in a social situation and enjoying and then coming home to Rory.  It is getting more and more difficult.  Turned off the light around midnight.  A lot on my mind, didn't sleep the best.

Thursday-woke up around 6:30 and my weight is up, but I expected that.  Food was on track, with the exception of my afternoon snack.  We went kayaking and I forgot to bring my afternoon snack and had a muffin.  No walk, but did go kayaking.  Totally enjoyed going kayaking and this gave me another form of exercise.  Never thought I would be this active.  I enjoyed the afternoon, but had this feeling, that I needed to get home and make dinner. My responsibility of making dinner for my family  was in my head.  I need to learn to just go with the flow.  Rory can fend for himself.  Turned off the light around 11.

Friday-woke up around 6:45 and my weight stayed the same.  Food was on track.  Fridays are going to be my off day and so I did no walking.  I had a bunch of errands to do, so that was my day.  Turned off the light around 10:45.

Saturday-woke up at 6, as I had to leave to go to a walk around 8:15 a.m.  Weight was slightly down. Breakfasts, snacks and dinner were on track.  Four of us went out for lunch after the walk, which was really enjoyable.  The girls and I are going to be volunteering at a pet rescue center, so we went to an orientation for that.  I have a sense of responsibility for getting certain things accomplished and it is hard for me to just go with the flow.  I need to relax and go with the flow.  Turned off the light at 10:30.

Physical and emotional health

The reason I started this weight loss journey was because I was not happy with myself at the weight I was at, plus we would go on vacation and I would lose weight and when we got back home, my weight went back up.  At home, I deal with my husband and daughter, who are on the Autism Spectrum and I am my husband's caretaker and not his wife.  He expects everything done for him.  My daughter deals with major anxiety, so this makes for a very stressful household.  My hiking/walking is the way I deal with my stress, which has helped tremendously and I have met some awesome, supportive people in the process.  I have learned my rest is major important.

Sunday-my weight is up, as the girls birthday was yesterday.  I did not make bad food choices, but the food was heavier than what I eat on a normal basis.  I will get somewhat on track today.  I was up at 6:15 this morning.  I do not use an alarm, but allow my body to wake up when it wants to.  There are times, I would like to sleep later, but my husband is on a "schedule" and wants to be up around 6-6:30, so he can watch his TV.  Breakfast, snacks and lunch were on track.  I did a hike this afternoon that was hard and injured my knee.  Dinner was what people brought.  I did not get to bed until 1 a.m. and did not sleep the best.

Monday-my weight is still up.  This morning I was up at 6:30.  Knee was really bothering me during the night.  Breakfast, snacks and lunch were on track.  Originally, I had planned to go out to dinner, as I thought I was going hiking, so we went out to dinner anyway.  Not a bad choice, but not hiking did not help the weight.  Very much needed a nap, which I got.  Rory has been on my case about going to the doctor for my knee, but I know enough of what to do and have enough friends, who have been through this, that I am following their advice.  I am not a good patient and so used to doing things, that it is hard for me to do nothing and have my daughters do things.  Marissa is not used to this as well and it is causing her anxiety.  Fell asleep while icing my knee about 10:15.

Tuesday-my weight is up.  My sleep was pretty good, but I got tired of the bed.  Slept without the brace.  Got up at 6:20 a.m.  Kept on track with food.  I am sleeping soundly with my naps, as I feel like my body has been tired. The knee is getting better everyday, which I am happy about.  Starting Monday of next week, I am going to do some stretching exercises on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and do walking on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturdays.  If I have a small hike on Saturday, I may do a small hike on Sunday afternoon.  Took the girls to our Tuesday night walk and while they were walking, I edited pictures and talked to a friend, which was really enjoyable. Marissa did the whole walk, but had an anxiety melt down when she got back.  Mari and I were trying to find out what was causing the anxiety and she would not talk about it.   Went to bed around 11:30.

Wednesday-my weight is still up and I am beginning to see the effect my walking/hiking has on my weight.  Got up about 6:30.  While I am getting ready, Rory is watching the news and making comments about things on the news and putting down people, which gets annoying.  Made some decisions about some things, such as exercise during the night, which helps.  I have made a promise to myself and several others, that I will rest my knee this week, but I knew this would happen and it is, that I would get restless, but I am keeping my promise.  The food was on track today.  Marissa had an appointment with her therapist, which was helpful for all of us.  Went to a new small group, which is based on my hiking group, which I am excited about.  Getting frustrated with the knee, but I know it is improving.  Went to bed around 11.  My nap did not really exist, but I did rest.

Thursday-the weight is slightly down.  Got up at 6:30 a.m.  Kept on track for food today.  The knee is getting better everyday.  One of my goals is that I can climb stairs normally by the end of the weekend, as it is getting annoying to climb stairs one step at a time.  Made some plans for the weekend and one is to go walking at the beach on the boardwalk with my walking group.  Had counseling and then came home and picked up Mari and we went to our Thursday night walk.  Mari did the walk and I hung out and edited pictures at Starbucks.  It was nice to hang out with the group.  Came home and lights were out by 11:30 p.m.

Friday-the weight is starting to go down.  Got up at 6:30 a.m.  Kept on track for food today.  I am tired of the pain with my knee, as it feels like a pulled muscle.  Had a mammogram and then came home.  Did get a nap and then went to do some errands.  I got done the things I wanted to get done.  Rory frustrates me with his non-stop talking.  Went to bed at 10 and got a good nights sleep.

Saturday-the weight is down to what it was last Saturday.  YAY!  Got up at 6:30, mainly because Rory turned off the fan in our room.  I could have slept longer.  Breakfast and snacks were the only part of my food plan that was on track.  We went out for lunch and then for dinner went to an end of summer bash with my hiking group.  I did walk 2 miles and the knee feels tremendously better.  It was not really enjoyable to come home after having so much fun yesterday.  It is very difficult to live with someone who really does not want to interact with other people. I am very thankful to have found my hiking group.  Got to bed around 11:30.

My goal is within reach

Sunday-my weight is slightly up.  Breakfast and snacks were on track.  Lunch was the leftover sandwich from Friday and I went out to dinner after the hike and dinner was later than I usually have dinner.  Did a harder hike this afternoon.  I am learning things I need to bring with us on hikes, which is a good thing.  Went to bed at 12:30 and had a hard time sleeping, as I was sore.

Monday-weight stayed the same.  Food was on track today.  Did my usual Monday evening hikes and surprisingly this one is getting easier.  I was able to go up a hill that I usually have to stop halfway up.  My confidence is getting stronger in doing the harder hikes.  Went to bed at midnight.

Tuesday-weight dropped half a pound. Breakfast, snacks and dinner were on track.  I had lunch out today.  Did my usual Tuesday night hike.  This walk is a beginner walk and usually I work on speed on the beginner walks, but felt like being social today.  Went to bed around 10:45.

Wednesday-weight dropped .4 pound.  Food was on track.  No hike today, as I needed to give my body a rest.  Went to bed around 10.

Thursday-weight dropped another .4 pound.  Food was on track.  Trying to drink more water.  My usual Thursday night hike at Shady Canyon. This is my one night for frozen yogurt and socializing.  Got to bed at midnight.

Friday-weight dropped another .2 pound.  Food was on track.  No hiking today.  Got to bed around 10:30.

Saturday-Got up around 6:15 and my weight has stayed the same.  Today is the girls birthday, so sticking with food plan is not going to happen.  Breakfast and snacks were good, except I did have a churro with afternoon snack.  Lunch was good, as I had a turkey wrap and then for dinner I had chicken tikka masala with rice and we had cake for the girls birthday.  We went to the San Diego Zoo and walked a lot.  Got to bed around 10:30.

Sunday-the weight is staying the same and slowly going down!  Stayed on track with breakfast, snacks and dinner.  We went out for lunch and I did have a salad, which was a good choice.  I did have an black, iced tea, which had caffeine in it, which caused some issues, as I felt like I was having some spasms.  I did take a walk and I fell asleep at 10, but did not do my whole night time routine.  I really did not sleep the most soundly.

Monday-the weight is staying the same.  Stayed on track with breakfast, snacks and dinner.  We went out for lunch and had two very small tacos and a green drink that I got at Target.  I did one of my harder hikes tonight.  Turned off the light at midnight, but had a hard time sleeping.  I am really trying to figure out why I am tired, but my body will not relax.

Tuesday-the weight dropped to one of my lowest.  Stayed on track with food today.  I went shopping this afternoon for pants and I have dropped a size.  I was jazzed.  Did a walk today.  Turned off the light at 11 and slept pretty well.  Overall a good day

Wednesday-the weight is down this morning!  Stayed on track with food today.  I am not walking/hiking today, as I had small group.  This is one of my down days.  Came home from small group and walked in the door and met a wave of anger from Rory.  I did not respond, as I knew that would just escalate things.

Thursday-the weight is the same as yesterday.  Stayed on track with food today.  I did my usual Thursday night hike and stayed for socializing, which was really nice.  Went to bed around midnight and slept very well.

Friday-the weight is down and I have 6 pounds to go to reach goal weight.  I CAN DO IT!  The girls birthday is a week away and Mari had requested going to a brewery in Escondido, CA, so we went to the brewery for lunch, which was enjoyable.  Breakfast, snacks and dinner were normal.  I did not walk, as Friday, is being my down day and the temperature was way too hot.  Went to bed around 10 and slept very well.

Saturday-the weight is slightly up.  I hiked today and had lunch with my hiking group at Gelson's.  I had a turkey sandwich and some fruit.  I did not have my morning snack, as the snack melted while I was hiking.  Breakfast, snacks and dinner were normal.  Got to bed around 10:30 and slept really well.

Feels so good

Being almost to normal weight, feels so good with clothes, as well as being able to do things, that I have not been able to do.  I am enjoying being more positive.

Sunday-the weight is up and I know it will go back down.  Periodically, it is nice to eat certain foods that I don't allow myself to eat on a normal basis.  No walk or hike today!  Trying to find a balance between doing house stuff and things I enjoy, such as editing pictures or things I do at home.   I deal with two people with mental illness, which makes home life difficult, so most of the time, I would rather be out with others, than home.  The stress of living with mental illness, also affects my eating and weight.  I would like to be at home and enjoy my home.  I am more my husband's caretaker, than his wife.  His enjoyment is television, in fact, his dream, would be to be in a closed up, air conditioned room with a TV, going all day and all night.

Monday-the weight is still up.  Stayed on track with food today.  I tried something new today of starting to speed walk, plus I had an intermediate hike tonight, which is good for me.  After I got home from my hike, I had to deal with stress from Rory, who wanted to talked politics, which I don't enjoy, as well as talking finances and his finding a job.  His version of finding a  job, is finding something, where he really doesn't have to work.  Didn't really sleep well during the night.

Tuesday-the weight is going back down.  Stayed on track with food today.  Did some more speed walking today.  The whole stress with Rory affected me in regard to my energy level.  Did get a good nap, which helped.  My walk tonight was easy, so I try to decrease the speed on these walks.

Wednesday-the weight stayed relatively the same.  Overall, stayed on track with food.  Did a bunch of walking today, including my speed walk, a walk in Corona del Mar with sand and hills and a walk around Balboa.  Dealing with a bunch of stress today.

Thursday-the weight is staying relatively the same. Stayed on track with food.  Did my usual Thursday night walk in Shady Canyon.  Dealing with my usual stress with Rory and trying to help Marissa deal with her anxiety.  It is very difficult to watch my daughter struggle.  It gets exhausting, always having to be the strong one.  Some of the stress came out in my walking tonight, especially in how fast I was walking.

Friday-the weight is staying relatively the same.  Breakfast and snack was on track.  Lunch, I made the decision to go out to The Melt and have a grilled cheese sandwich with mushrooms, which was really good.  Afternoon snack and dinner were as planned.  Did no walking today and made the decision to not do any planned hikes this weekend.  I need some time to not be on a schedule.  Starting to keep track of my sleep.  Went to bed at 11.  I would really like to get to bed around 10:30 on a regular basis.

Saturday-the weight is staying relatively the same.  Food was on track today.  I did take a walk today with Mari.  Went to bed at 10:30.  The day was relatively relaxed, as I did a couple of errands in the morning, got a nap and we got hair cuts today.

Being healthy

My life, nowadays, has become a life of eating healthy and making wise choices and not being afraid to try new things.  Since doing two hikes that I was afraid of doing,  I feel more alive and my new saying is "I can do it."

Sunday-Weight is slightly up, but I am still down 60+ pounds.  Today was definitely a day of rest.  Ate according to plan, but no walk, which is fine, as my body needed the rest, after Saturday.

Monday-Weight is back down, which is 62 pounds, gone away.  The girls and I went to lunch with a friend who is leaving for Boston and I made wise choices.  No exercise today.

Tuesday-Weight was down slightly.  Stayed on food plan. Went walking today.

Wednesday-the weight is down to the lowest it has been on this journey.  If I was to look at BMI range, I need to be down another 7 pounds, which I can do.  Did an intermediate hike today.

Thursday-the weight stayed the same.   Stayed on track with food today. Mari and I were getting tired of frozen yogurt after we did hikes, so we tried something new.  We took yogurt from home with us, as well as a banana and got an iced tea, which was nice, as the temperature is hot right now.  Did our usual Thursday night hike, which I enjoy.

Friday-the weight is down .2 pound.  Overall stayed on track with food today.  I did go out to lunch today with Mari and made wise choices.  Did a 4.5 mile hike tonight and had frozen yogurt after the hike.  Tonight's hike was one of my harder hikes.

Saturday-the weight is staying relatively the same.  Breakfast was normal, but we went hiking in Torrey Pines and had a late lunch consisting of pizza, so I did not have dinner.  It was a fun day!

Stepping it up

Sunday-the weight is up, but I am not surprised. Back to routine. Food was good today and Mari and I went on a hike in our own neighborhood.  I feel good about the hike, as we accomplished somethings with this hike.  The hills were not that bad and we went all the way to the top without stopping.  I am trying to say, I can do this, rather than I can't do this.

Monday-the weight was back down.  Food was good today.  We went out for lunch and dinner and I made good choices.  I did a hike with my hiking group and I surprised myself with what I did.  I, also, found that I need to eat a little more food, when I do these type of hikes, as I felt a little light headed after I did one hill.  I did drink water, which helped quite a bit.

Tuesday-the weight is down to another low.  Food was good today.  I did a walk with my hiking group and my pace was really good.  I am trying to keep it below 18 minutes.  This one was 16:47 per mile.

Wednesday-the weight is continuing to be low.  Food was good today.  This morning, I walked Balboa Island and then tonight, I hiked Turtle Rock and accomplished a goal of climbing French Hill and Suicide Hill.  I am proud of myself for doing this.

Thursday-the weight continues to be low.  Food was good today.  I did go get a salad out at lunch.  Did my usual Thursday night at Shady Canyon.

Friday-the weight was the same as Wednesday.  Food was good today.  Today was a rest day, when it came to exercise.

Saturday-the weight was slightly up.  Went to Los Angeles on a field trip and had lunch and dinner out.  Enjoyed and made wise choices.  I walked between 7-11 miles by doing a Secret Stairs walk.

Where will this week go, one day at a time!

Sunday-weight was up, which was not surprising, considering I was out on Saturday.  I did not really make bad food choices, but, overall, going out and not really walking will raise the weight. Today was back on track with food and I did a 4.5 mile walk.

Monday-weight was down.  Stayed on food plan today.  I did get a walk today, that I found was easy, which didn't used to be easy.  I look at how far I have come in less than a year and I am proud of myself.

Tuesday-weight is down.  Overall stayed on food plan today.  Did my usual Tuesday night walk and was hungry after the walk, so I added an appetizer to my frozen yogurt and also had a Thai Iced Tea.

Wednesday-weight is down.  Met up with some friends for lunch today, which was fun and made a wise choice with a chicken cobb salad.   Did an almost 7 mile walk with a friend tonight and of course, had frozen yogurt.

Thursday-weight is slightly up. Today was a nice relaxing day at home and I stayed on food course.  The girls and I went out for dinner and I made a good choice for dinner.  I did my usual Thursday night walk at Shady Canyon. Had frozen yogurt after the walk.

Friday-the weight is back down to the lowest it has been on this journey.  I stayed on food course, except for dinner, when we went out.  I made good choices. We did another walk at Turtle Rock, which I enjoyed.

Saturday-the weight went up, but I am not surprised, as the salad I had on Thursday night was mainly vegetables.  I did a 3.88 mile walk that was too slow for me.  It was enjoyable, but I was frustrated with the walk.  I am definitely past beginner walks, so I am going to work in some intermediate hikes during the week, with my regular hikes.  Overall, I stayed on food plan, but went to a BBQ and enjoyed.

Balance

Over the last couple of weeks, I added one hike on Wednesday, which meant I was out five nights a week, which was getting too much.  I liked the hike on Wednesdays, because it pushed me out of my comfort zone, but it was getting too much with home schedule.  Long term, I will continue to do Tuesdays and Thursday nights.  Friday nights, I will do, when I am not overwhelmed.   I will continue to do my field trips on either Saturday.   If I do not have small group on a Monday, I will be doing a hike of some kind.  I really need to have balance in my life between home life and social life.

Sunday-staying on track with food and no exercise.  Weight went up another .5 pound.

Monday-Weight stayed the same. Food will remain on track and I did not get a hike.  Got some house stuff accomplished, which felt good.  I need to find balance between exercise and doing house/family/my stuff.

Tuesday-Weight stayed the same.  Food will remain on track and I got a 6 mile walk.

Wednesday-Weight went down.  Food stayed on track with the exception of a Boba Milk Tea.  I can have the milk tea, but not the Boba.  I did get a 3 mile walk with a time of 15:44.  My goal has been to get under 18 minutes, which I am doing.

Thursday-Weight went back up to where I have been most of the week.  Food stayed according to plan and I walked 5.72 miles.

Friday-Weight stayed the same as most of the week.  Food will stay on track today and I am walking tonight.  Mari has asked me to have certain walks that are for exercise and certain walks that I walk with her.  Tuesday and Thursday walks are going to be for exercise and the rest of the walks I do with her, I will walk with her, as I have a tendency to walk faster than her.  Tonight, I will walk with her and I will take my camera with me and just enjoy walking at the beach.

Saturday-Weight went down.  Today is field trip day and we went to Coronado, which was fun.  Did some walking, but was very warm and felt very humid.  We had lunch out and I made wise choices.  Overall, my weight has stayed the same for the last week, which is fine.

Content with where I am

I have lost 60 pounds and I am maintaining.  I could lose another 13 pounds and probably be where charts say I should be and maybe I will get there and maybe I won't.  I am content with where I am.

I am continuing to eat healthy and allow myself grace at times.  I will continue to weight myself daily, as overall it has become a habit.  My challenge, now, is to hike more difficult trails and to increase my speed on easy walks.

Sunday-Staying on menu with no walk!  The last two days I hiked 17.5 miles and I am giving my body a rest.  I did feel bored by last night, but I know my body needed the rest.  I, also, know that when I go off routine with my eating, it takes my body a couple of days to get back on track.

Monday-the weight is slightly up.  Today is on track with no walking.

Tuesday-the weight is down and I walked today and I am keeping on track with food.

Wednesday-the weight is down and I did two walks today for a total of 9.7 miles.  We went to Whole Foods for lunch today and did stay on track.

Thursday-the weight is down and I am doing one walk today.  We are going out for lunch today and I am having a salad for lunch.  The rest of the day will be normal.

Friday-I am at my lowest for this journey and I am proud of myself.  Today is a normal eating day and yesterday, I did stick to having what I said I would have.  I have one walk today.  Going out for meals is somewhat stressful, as I can't just relax.  I have a tendency to overeat or not eat enough and I think that is what happened on Thursday.

Saturday-my weight went back up about .5 pound, which is typical, as I was back on normal eating on Friday and I got a walk.  A group of us went down to San Diego and went out for Mexican food.  I did have chips and shrimp tacos with rice.  I enjoyed it and we got some walking around Old Town done, in amongst the rain.  I also had a churro.

Dedication

This period of time for me was dedicated to getting down 60 pounds.  I have become bound and determined.

Sunday, my weight was up and I know why!  Today is a lay low day and I have totally stayed on food plan.  No exercise today, but I am ok with that.

Monday, the weight was down .02 of a pound.  So far staying on track.  Took an almost 6 mile walk with a friend, which was nice!

Tuesday, the weight stayed the same and overall I stayed on track with my food.  Did my usual Tuesday night walk.  Rory was home from Vegas, so the stress was back.

Wednesday, the weight dropped a half pound and overall I stayed on track.  I walked about 3 miles.

Thursday, the weight dropped 1.4 pounds and I reached my goal of getting down 60 pounds. Stayed on track and did my usual Thursday walk.

Friday, the weight dropped .2 pound.    Stayed on track and did a walk of approximately 5 miles with a friend. I was very tired today and I made the decision to not do a certain hike and listen to my body.   The beginning of 4th of July weekend.  I planned to give myself some slack this weekend with the holiday.

Saturday, the weight dropped another .2 pound.  Overall stayed on track and did not do a real walk.  The girls and I went with a friend to the street fair, so I did get some walking.

Sunday, the weight jumped about 1.5 pounds.  It is interesting to see that sometimes I don't walk and the weight goes down and sometimes I don't walk and the weight goes up.  Did not stay on food plan today, but did get a 4 mile walk.  It was a fun weekend, but need to get back to food plan

Monday, the weight jumped another .5 pound.  The food plan is back on track and I did not do a walk, as I felt like all I had been doing all weekend is going.  I was also starting to feel a cold coming on.

Tuesday, the weight dropped .5 pound.  Stayed on food plan and walked my usual Tuesday night walk.  Tuesday night's walk is relatively easy, so I am trying to increase how fast I walk.

Wednesday, the weight dropped one pound.  Stayed on food plan and did a new walk that was hard and challenged me, which is good for me.

Today is Thursday and the weight dropped 1.4 pounds.  So far I have stayed on food plan and I am doing my usual Thursday night walk.

DINNER MENU

Thursday-Chicken tenders, rice and vegetables
Friday-Ground turkey taco salad
Saturday-BBQ chicken with potato salad

Thursday-5.5 mile walk
Friday-doing 2 walks
Saturday-one walk

A crazy week

This is going to be a crazy week.

Monday, I am going to try to get in a walk.  My usual time to do this would have been in the morning, but Marissa has a dentist appointment, so I will try to get a walk in the afternoon.  Tuesday, I am taking my usual Tuesday night walk with my group.  The afternoon may get crazy, as Sweet Pea(our cat) has a vet appointment.  Wednesday, Rory leaves for Vegas, so the house will be calmer.  Thursday and Friday, I think, will be normal and Saturday, we are taking the train to San Diego for a field trip.

Sunday was Father's Day and Rory's birthday and we went out for brunch, which was enjoyable.  I tried to make good food choices, which I feel I did.  I really have an issue with going out, as I want to stay on track, as I am so close to 60 pounds and I don't want to blow my momentum.  I needed a break today from walking, as the last 3 days has been intense and my body needed to recover.

Monday, my weight was up. I am back on food plan and I am really trying to work on staying in the moment.  Thank goodness, I am doing that, as this day did not go as planned.  I took Mari to work and ran an errand on the way home, which was planned.  Marissa had a dental appointment and I ran another errand.  I decided to take Marissa out to lunch and I got a salad, which I thought was a good choice.  Usually, I have small group on Monday night, which was cancelled.  I was planning to take a walk in the afternoon, which I did with a friend.  It was nice to stay home that night, as I had been running like crazy.

Tuesday, my weight was up again.  I stayed on food plan and today was another busy day, as Sweet Pea(cat) had to be at the vet by 10.  Rory is getting ready to go out of town and he is tense, when he gets ready, so he is really not fun to be around.  Marissa was feeling stressed, so I told her to go to her room.  Rory went out for the majority of the day and I had some quiet time.  Marissa and I went to pick up Sweet Pea and came home.  We left at 4 to pick up dinner and then get Mari and take Mari to a church function and Marissa and I went with my group for a walk.  We got frozen yogurt after we picked up Mari.  Marissa got sick from all the stress she has been dealing with.

Wednesday my weight was down and I have been on food plan all day.  I took Mari to work and then went for a walk, that had not been planned, as Marissa usually has therapy on Wednesday.  Since Marissa had been sick, she did not go to therapy and I just wanted to go for a walk by myself, which felt really good.  Came home and had lunch.  The house was quiet, as Rory had left and it was just Marissa and I.  I got lots accomplished, which felt good.  Overall, a good day.

Thursday, the weight was down and I am staying on plan.  Tonight, Mari and I are going out for dinner and we have our usual 5 mile walk, with frozen yogurt afterward.  Mainly a day at home working on photos and a blog post for Secret Stairs.(gypsymomtravels.blogspot.com)

Friday, the weight was the same as yesterday and I am staying on plan.  Mari and I have a hike tonight with our hiking group.  There will be frozen yogurt afterward.  Except for getting a hair cut, it is mainly a day at home.  I am totally enjoying the peace and quiet around the house.

Saturday, the weight was down.  Mari and I went to San Diego.  We got sandwiches to take with us and got coffees.  We walked all over the USS Midway, which was a lot of stairs and walking.  It was a fun day.

Overall, the weight was up for this week.  This week, I am eating from home for the majority of meals, as I am bound and determined to reach 60 pounds down.

Trying to stay on normal routine

Sunday was normal for breakfast and then we took a hike and ended up having brunch with the group after the hike.  I learned I needed to take snack with me on the hike as I got shaky about half way through the hike.  I had egg salad, strawberries, deviled egg and cherries and a muffin.  When we got back to the car, we got a sandwich and then came home and had a regular afternoon snack and regular dinner.  My weight went up.

Monday was a normal routine for eating.  I did a 4+mile hike and then we got ice cream after the hike.  I lost the 2 pounds I gained.

Tuesday is so far being a normal routine.  My plan is to do an approximately 5 mile walk tonight and get frozen yogurt.  Weight went down another .6 pound.

Wednesday was on track and I did a 2.8 mile walk.  We had a sandwich for lunch and potato salad, which were planned and the weight went up .4 pound.  I am ok with this, because I am learning.  I may have hit the weight my body wants to be, so we will see.  This is a life style for me of eating healthy and exercising.  I do want to do more hikes and work on my fear of dirt trails, coming down rocks, etc.

Thursday is going to be on track, except for the fact that Mari and I were going to go out to eat and now, because she is not working, we will eat at home.  I have a 5 mile walk planned for tonight, as well as frozen yogurt.  Thursday was on track and I did walk 5 miles and I lost another pound.

Friday has overall been on track.  Mari had an interview this morning and when she was done, it was close to lunchtime, so we went to Rubio's and got lunch.  I have a walk scheduled for tonight.  The walk was great and a friend of mine pushed me on the way out, which was good for me.  The weight stayed the same.

Saturday was sort of on track.  Breakfast and dinner was according to menu.  Saturday is field trip day and we went out for lunch and I made a wise choice.  We did a Secret Stairs walk, which was rough and it was hot. Drank lots of water.  Lost .2 of a pound.  I am .4 of a pound away from 60 pounds overall.

Overall this week, I lost 2.4 pounds.

Trying new things-some work, some don't

This past week was a week of trying some different things to see if they would work or not.  Mari's work schedule changed, so we decided to go out for dinner before our walk on Thursday, rather than my bringing dinner with me.  We also met up with Mari at lunch on Wednesday at a healthy place, which was nice, but I need to remember to order salads.  Friday, I went out with some friends for dinner and Saturday, I was in a class all day and we went out for lunch.  Some choices, while eating out were good and others were not so good. Overall, my weight went up .4 pound, which I am ok with.  This week will be more of eating either at home or from home.

My exercise was good and I stuck with schedule and yesterday(Sunday), I tried something new and I felt I did well.  Coming down the hill, I was slow and did not have the confidence others had, but going up, I did good.   I will keep doing these hikes, so I can gain more confidence.

Stuck-is my body adjusting?

What I eat and how I exercise has become a life style for me.  I was concerned about eating too much on Saturday, when I went out with my daughters and a friend, but I made good choices and the weight has been staying the same.  I am pleased, as I am at my lowest constant weight.  I really would like to lose another 15 pounds, but I would be happy to get down another 10.  I am just going to stick to the journey I am on and see what happens.

Sunday for lunch, I had left over salad from Saturday and Monday, Mari and I went out for lunch and I had a salmon salad, that was really good from Bear Flag in Newport Coast.  Highly recommend their food.   The weight stayed the same until Thursday, when it dropped another .4 pound and on Friday it dropped another .4 pound, which was the lowest amount I have been on this journey, but then Saturday and today, I am back up.  Overall, I am up .6 pound, but for the last month, I am down about a pound, which I am happy about.  On Saturday, Mari and I and a friend of hers went to LA and overall I made wise food choices and we did a lot of walking.  Today, I am back to eating at home.  This past week, I, also had a sinus infection.  My doTerra essential oils really helped with the sinus infection.
